So, let’s talk ‘Very Peri’
There is always much anticipation when Pantone announce their colour of the year. This year it’s “Very Peri”.
Suddenly it gives marketers a great talking point, retailers the opportunity to create a sale display in that same colour spectrum and people like me something to think about.
This year is an interesting one.
I absolutely adore what the chosen colour represents ‘Very Peri helps us to embrace this altered landscape of possibilities, opening us up to a new vision as we rewrite our lives’ – but it’s just not what I expected.
Retro
Maybe with everything we have been through over the last few years and the resilience we have found within ourselves; maybe it’s just time to start thinking differently and embrace the purple but ….For me purple is a very emotive colour and provokes lots of associations and memories (probably being a child of the 70’s!) I think Palma violets, Toilet roll dolls, shiny bed linen and lavender; I don’t feel a sense of urgency to see how I can introduce this colour into my world but ….
I’m also really excited to see how people embrace the hues of this tone, and I can’t wait to be surprised and maybe even converted from this violet infused blue colourway.
For now, i’m not sure I’ve ever loved and could fall in love with purple – so, no offence Very Peri.
