Welcome SS23!
I don’t know about you but I’m currently dreaming of Spring and the clocks going forward; just seeing that daylight eeekk out a bit each week really gets me in that happy positive mindset that change is just around the corner.
It’s also my trigger for thinking about my little interior projects for this year and I love it when my little brain starts buzzing with ideas.
My interior design trends…
My interior decisions tend to reflect me and my personality and I’m not hugely influenced by trends but I do like seeing what’s going on out there in the big wide world.
So what does 2023 mean for us all and what are the design takeaway headlines for this year?
2023 predictions
There are many predictions out there, but they all seem to circle back to the change the pandemic has brought on and searching for what really makes us happy.
For many, the pandemic brought about different pains based on personal circumstances, but there was no denying it did bring about isolation.
The golden thread for many design predictions seems to be around revaluation in all aspects of our lives be it in our careers or our homes; choices that give us comfort and stability.
- Stepping away from minimalistic which is devoid of playfulness and from white which maybe has too much of a clinical feel.
- Introducing interiors styles which bring flair and stability i.e. ones that haven’t gone away such as mid-century and art deco.
- Making open living plan redundant in favour of making spaces which suit our now needs such as hybrid working.
- Not making our homes look too much like a Pinterest board but keeping things real and reflective of individual personalities
- Investing in handmade bespoke pieces that celebrate craftsmanship and Individuals and have a story to tell.
Even the pantone colour of the year ‘Viva Magenta’ is defined as symbolising strength, joy and optimism, embracing life and living.
Lots of talk still around outdoor living considerations being an extension of our indoor living space; we all know the importance of outdoor space and wellbeing.
The biggest takeaway from these predictions is that in the face of adversity, our homes should provide us with a safe happy place and should be a reminder around what’s important.
Use these interior nuggets for inspiration but most importantly do what makes you happy. As the lovely Dorothy once said ‘there is no place like home’
